Maintaining the commitment of diffusion and execution of the State Secretariat of Culture’s public policies, ACAM Portinari participated in the elaboration and viabilization of publications that collaborate with the divulgement and discussion of studies, experiences and reflections in the museological area. In a partnership with SISEM-SP, between 2010 and 2012 it launched four materials that integrate the Open Museum.

The investigation work performed as part of the Specialization in Communication Management course at the University of São Paulo’s Communication and Art School, from March 2007 to June 2008, is presented in the material “Para Além dos Muros: por uma comunicação dialógica entre Museus e Entorno” (Beyond the Walls: for a dialogical communication between Museums and their Surroundings). On the other hand, the work “Museus: o que são para o que servem?” (Museums: what are they and what are they for?) gathers a collection of articles from prominent professionals with important contributions in the museum area.

Another edition enabled by the Social Culture Organization is the documentation and diagnostic work from 15 of the 23 museums in the State of São Paulo linked to the State Secretariat of Culture: “Documentation and Conservation of Museological Collections: guidelines”.

Indian Matters and Museums – Debates and Possibilities

In the case of the translation of the ICOM (International Council of Museums) and Unesco’s book, “How to manage a Museum”, it was launched in 2015, during the 7th Paulista Museums Conference, in two versions: a Practical Guide and Instructor Guide. In 2016, during the 8th edition of the event, the material launched was “Introduction to the Controlled Vocabularies: terminology for Art, Architecture and other cultural works”, by Patricia Harpring, which is the fourth volume of the collection “Management and Documentation of collections: reference texts”. The responsible institutes for this edition were the Secretariat of Culture of the State of São Paulo and ACAM Portinari, and also the partners, Pinacoteca, Museu da Imagem e do Som, Museu da Imigração, Instituto de Arte Contemporânea, Fluminense Federal University and The Getty Research Institute.

Focused on the experiences and presentations at the Paulista Conference of Indigenous Issues and Museums, organised yearly by the India Vanuire Museum, four publications of the four first versions of the event (2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015) were released. The titles are “Questões Indígenas e Museus – Debates e Possibilidades” (Indigenous Issues and Museums – Debates and Possibilities), “Enfoque Regional para um Debate Museológico” (Regional Focus for a Museological Debate), “Museus e Indígenas – saberes e ética, novos paradigmas em debate (Museums and Indigenous peoples – knoledge and ethic, new paradigms in debate) and “Direitos Indígenas nos Museus – novos procedimentos para uma nova política: a gestão de acervos em discussão” (Indigenous Rights at the Museums – new procedures for a new policy: discussing the collections management).
